XFL: “Rumble on the River 5” takes place on September 23rd at the River Spirit Event Center in Tulsa, OK and features a matchup between Anita “El Tigre” Rodriguez and Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger.
Sarah Alpar was scheduled to defend her ROR title against Rodriguez, however when she had to withdraw from the bout, Evinger stepped up with just two days notice. Evinger (8-6) began competing in MMA in 2006 and has fought against some of the top competitors in the sport: Jenn Tate, Ginele Marquez, Gina Carano, Julie Kedzie, Alexis Davis (twice) and most recently against Olympic wrestling silver medalist turned mixed martial artist, Sara McMann. In that bout, McMann would use her superior wrestling to grind out a unanimous decision victory. Rodriguez (4-1) would begin her MMA career in March 2009 against Jeri Sitzes, losing a very hard fought split decision. Rodriguez would get her revenge just three months later, defeating Sitzes via a split decision. Since then, she has won three additional bouts, defeating Tessa Simpson, Judy Garcia and Erica Torres all via submission. Also during this time, she managed to win her pro boxing debut against Yvette McCullar.
