Anna Barone battles Kaitlin Young at Driller Promotions: “Downtown Showdown 2”

Posted: January 3, 2012 in Uncategorized

Driller Promotions: “Downtown Showdown 2” takes place on January 6th at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, MN and features a catchweight bout at 140-pounds between Anna “Smiles” Barone and 10th ranked Bantamweight, Kaitlin Young.

After losing her pro debut in 2009 to a controversial stoppage, Barone (2-2) has won two of her last three bouts via KO. In April 2010, she scored a second round knock-out over Jenn Ricker, then in August she lost a very close fight to Tannaya Hantelman via decision. In October of 2011 at the BlackEye Promotions Breast Cancer event, she stopped Charmaine Tweet with a beautiful overhand right just 18 seconds into the first round. Young (6-5) began her career in 2007 with a bang, knocking out her first four opponents, including a head kick KO over current Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion, Miesha Tate. She would then lose her next four, albeit to top level competition such as Gina Carano, Shana Nelson and Jenn Tate. Since then, she has bounced back to win two of her last three, most recently stopping Liz Carreiro via a first round TKO back in October.
