Fight Time 8: “It’s Fight Time” takes place at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, FL on February 17th and features a matchup between top 115-pound prospect, “Little” Patricia Vidonic and number 2 ranked, Jessica “Jags” Aguilar. There will be a delayed broadcast of this event on February 21st at 5pm eastern on GoFightLive.
Vidonic (6-1) began her career in July 2010 with a hard fought decision loss to Valerie Coolbaugh. Since then, she has tallied six wins in a row, submitting her last three. In April she stopped Kyane Hampton via a second round armbar, June she defeated Lacey Schuckman via a third round rear-naked choke and then in October, in what would be voted the 2011 WMMA Fight of the Year, she stopped Chelsea Colarelli in the second round via a rear-naked choke. Vidonic, who is just on the outside of a top-10 ranking herself, will no doubt be facing her biggest challenge to date, when she meets 2nd ranked Jessica Aguilar. Aguilar (12-4) began her career in 2006 and in 2010 she entered the Bellator 115-pound 8-woman tournament as a favorite to battle Megumi Fujii for the crown, however in her semi-final bout, she would lose a very contentious split decision to Zoila Gurgel. Gurgel would go on to defeat Fujii, in another contentious split decision to win the title. Since that loss, Aguilar has won her last three fights, defeating Elsie Henri via first round armbar and topping top-10 ranked, Carla Esparza and Lisa Ward via split decision and unanimous decision. Bellator CEO, Bjorn Rebney has announced a showdown between Aguilar and Fujii for division supremacy is in the works, however Aguilar must first get by Vidonic.
