Amanda Lucas captures Gold at DEEP 57 Impact

“Women’s MMA Today” gets you caught up on the week that was and the week that will be in women’s MMA.


– Shannon Knapp and Janet Martin, owners of Invicta Fighting Championships, an all-female mixed martial arts promotion, announced that their inaugural event will be held on April 28th at the famed Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The debut card is headlined by a bout between former Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion Marloes Coenen and top-10 ranked Featherweight, Romy Ruyssen, with further matchups to be announced in the coming weeks.

Feb 17 – Number 2 ranked, Jessica “Jags” Aguilar (13-4) out pointed a very game “Little” Patricia Vidonic (6-2) at Fight Time 8” “It’s Fight Time”. All three judges scored the contest 30×27. With this win, Aguilar sets herself up for a showdown with #1 ranked Megumi Fujii at a Bellator event later this year.

Feb 17 – The bout between Heather Painter and Larissa Tyler at Alaska Fighting Championship was scrapped.

Feb 18 – After missing weight in her Bantamweight debut, Shana “Rock Solid” Nelson (5-2) went on to dominate Sweden’s Lina “Lynx” Eklund (1-1), winning via TKO at 4:45 of round one at CFX: “Winter Brawl”.

Feb 18 – In a hotly contested standup war, 9th ranked Super Flyweight, Jessica “Evil” Eye (6-1) out-struck Kelly Warren (3-2) to pick up the unanimous decision victory at NAAFS: “Caged Vengeance 10″. The scores were 30×27 by all three judges.

Feb 18 – Amanda “Powerhouse” Lucas (4-1) scored her fourth win in a row as she battered Yumiko Hotta (5-4) for three rounds before finally ending the bout with a keylock at 2:16. With the win, Lucas became the first DEEP Women’s Open-Weight Champion.

Feb 18 – Bec “Rowdy” Hyatt (1-1) displayed her improved ground game defeating Sarah Morrison (0-1) via a second round armbar at Brace for War 14 and

Feb 18 – Stephanie “The Scrapper” Skinner (1-3) notched her first pro win with a second round TKO victory over Britany Nipper (0-5) at UFA 8: “Women of MMA”.
