The Unified Women’s MMA Rankings for April have now been released and with her impressive main event win on March 3rd, new Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey takes over the top spot at 135 pounds. On the same card, former champion Sarah Kaufman defeated Alexis Davis to become the number 1 contender. At 125 pounds, previously number one-ranked Tara LaRosa and number two-ranked Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton were removed due to inactivity within the division. Those vacancies, along with her third straight first round TKO victory, moved Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff into the top spot. Also, Katja Kankaanpää and Naoko Omuro earned key victories that vaulted both women up the ranks at 115 and 106 pounds, respectively.
Also please note that the 125 pound division is now called Flyweight, 115 is now Strawweight and 106 is Atomweight. These changes were made in association with the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.
