Carina Damm and Tonya Evinger Battle at Fight Hard MMA

“Women’s MMA Today” gets you caught up on the week that was and the week that will be in women’s MMA.


–  TMZ reported that Ronda Rousey had signed with the UFC, becoming the first female fighter in the promotions history. They also reported that Strikeforce would hold it’s last event on January 12th and then fold. At this point, no official comment from Rousey, Strikeforce, Showtime or the UFC, however Dana White did tweet his infamous “smiley face” on Twitter when asked.

–  Invicta FC 4 announced another matchup for it’s January show. Joining the main event of Carla Esparza vs Ayaka Hamasaki for the IFC Strawweight Championship will be a rematch from 2010 between top ranked Bantamweights Alexis Davis and Shayna Baszler. It was also announced that Sarah Kaufman will be on the card against an opponent yet to be named.

—Weekend Results—

November 9 –  Pro Muay Thai fighter Tracy Lockwood (1-0) showed that she is just as dangerous on the ground as standing by submitting Deepika (0-1) via rear naked choke at 2:10 of round one at SFL 8.

November 10 –  Sadae “Manhoef” Suzumura (4-1-1) picked up her third victory in a row as she defeated Shino VanHoose (3-2) via kneebar at 2:18 ofround two at Pancrase Progress Tour 12.

November 10 –  At Fight Hard MMA, Tamikka “Boom Boom” Brents (1-0) was successful in her pro debut, stopping Jessica “Raising Havoc” Halverson (3-2) via TKO at 4:01 of round one. Also on the card, Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger (11-6) made her first appearance in the Flyweight division a successful one by out striking Carina “Beauty But The Beast” Damm (17-8) for a split decision victory.

—Upcoming Events—

November 14 –  Late replacement Camila “Pitbull” Lima (4-4) meets Kalindra Faria (9-3-1) at Warriors FC 1.

November 16 –  Manjit Kolekar (1-0) goes for her second win in less than a month as she takes on Daizy (0-0) at SFL 9. This event will be streamed LIVE starting at 11:30am ET on SFL’s Youtube channel.

November 16 –  Winner of the reality show, “Norway’s Best Fighter”, Margaret Aase (0-0) makes her pro debut against Lina “The Lynx” Eklund (2-1) at Rumble of the Kings.

November 16 –  Kathina “Kill Switch” Catron (1-0) takes on an opponent yet to be named at Xtreme Fight Night 10.

November 17 –  Revelina “Nana” Berto (3-0) steps back into the cage after almost a 3-year layoff to face Stephanie Webber (2-2) at RFC 28.

November 17 –  Laura Balin (1-0) battles Ana Blank (0-0) at 360 Pro Fight and

November 17 –  Allanna “Hands of Stone” Jones (1-0) meets pro debuter Randa Markos (0-0) at IFL 51: “No Guts No Glory”.
