“Women’s MMA Today” gets you caught up on the week that was and the week that will be in women’s MMA.


–  Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter” will feature not only female head coaches, but female competitors as well. One of the teams will be coached by UFC Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey. The other team coach will be the winner of the Miesha “Cupcake” Tate vs “Alpha” Cat Zingano bout on the TUF 17 season finale on April 13th. Open tryouts for Season 18 begin April 15 in Vegas.

—Weekend Results—

March 15 –  Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet (3-3) picked up her second consecutive first round submission victory, her third in her last four bouts, via rear-naked choke over Sy “Lady Dragon” Jewett (2-1) at AFC 15: “The Ides”.

March 16 –  Showing no signs of cage-rust after a four-year hiatus, Gina “Danger” Mazany (3-0) maintained her unbeaten record with a unanimous decision victory over Priscilla “The Gorilla” White (0-2) at Rumble on the Ridge 27.

March 16 –  Andria Caplan (2-1) and Cassie Crisano (0-1) stole the show at CFFC 22, winning “Fight of the Night” honors for their three round war. In the end, Caplan would prevail via unanimous decision.

March 16 –  Mae-Lin Leow (1-2) scored her first win as a pro via verbal submission due to a knee injury sustained in the first round by Anna Hyvarinen (0-1) at MMA DownUnder 3 and

March 16 –  Christina Marks (4-6) stopped Rebecca Jones (0-2) via first round TKO in just 15-seconds at XFS.

—Upcoming Bouts—

March 23 –  After going unbeaten in her amateur career, Paulina “Firefox” Granados (0-0) makes her much anticipated pro debut against Sarah “The Midget” Lagerstrom (0-1) at XPC: “Rocks Extreme MMA 2”.

March 23 –  In the promotions first women’s bout, Amber “The Apex Predator” Stautzenberger (1-1) meets debuting Ashley Allen (0-0) at XKO 18.

March 23 –  Kinberly Novaes (5-1) looks for her sixth consecutive win against Larissa Ribeiro (0-0) at Iron Fight Combat.

March 23 –  Lina Länsberg (0-1) steps in to face LJ Adams (1-0) at Heroes Fighting Championship and

March 23 –  Rachael “The Panther” Cummins (0-0) makes her pro debut against an opponent to be determined at Pandemonium 8.
