“Women’s MMA Today” gets you caught up on the week that was and the week that will be in women’s MMA.

The historic season of The Ultimate Fighter kicked off Wednesday night with the 32 contestants fighting to make their way into the house. On the women’s side – Jessamyn Duke beat Laura Howarth, Jessica Rakoczy beat Revelina Berto, Peggy Morgan beat Bethany Marshall, Roxanne Modafferi beat Valérie Letourneau, Raquel Pennington beat Tonya Evinger, Shayna Baszler beat Colleen Schneider, Julianna Peña beat Gina Mazany and Sarah Moras beat Tara LaRosa. After the elimination fights were over, the coaches picked their teams. Rousey won the coin toss and choose to pick the first fight, giving Tate first pick. With her first pick, Tate choose Peña and Rousey took Baszler. After all picks were made, Rousey then announced that Baszler and Peña would be the first fight. Episode 2 airs Wednesday night at 10pm ET on Fox Sports 1.

September 7 –  Magic City Mayhem 3
Jessica Doerner (5-2) defeats LeAnn Amundson (0-1) via TKO in round 1
Ashleigh Heustis (1-0) defeats Harleigh Davis (0-1) via TKO in round 1
Cathleen Biala (0-0, 1NC) and Mary Charbonneau (0-0, 1NC) was declared a No Contest

–Upcoming Bouts–

September 13 –  At Legacy 23, Paulina “Firefox” Granados (2-0) looks to keep her prefect record in tact when she takes on fellow Texan Tessa Simpson (2-1). Simpson will be returning to the cage after a 4-year hiatus. This bout is expected to be a part of the main card which will be televised LIVE on AXS.tv starting at 10pm ET.
