“Women’s MMA Today” gets you caught up on the week that was and the week that will be in women’s MMA.

On the final episode of this season it was Team Rousey’s Jessica Rakoczy punching her ticket to the finale with a unanimous decision victory over Raquel Pennington of Team Tate. Awaiting Rakoczy in the finale was Team Tate’s Julianna Pena who had already advanced with her submission victory over teammate Sarah Moras. At the finale on Saturday night, “Best of” awards were handed out – winning the $25,000 for “Best KO of the Season” was Jessica Rakoczy, “Best Submission of the Season” went to Sarah Moras and “Best Fight of the Season” went to Jessamyn Duke and Raquel Pennington. On the main card, Raquel Pennington beat Roxanne Modaferri and Jessamyn Duke topped Peggy Morgan, both via unanimous decisions. In the title bout it was all Julianna Pena, stopping Jessica Rakoczy via first round TKO. With the victory, Pena earned a 6-figure UFC contact and the first ever female title of “The Ultimate Fighter”.

December 7 –  Briannah Conatser (0-0) and Rebecca Gullet (0-0) make their pro debut at Shamrock FC in St Louis, MO.

December 7 –  In Brazil, Talita “Treta” Nogueira (5-0) meets Michele Oliveira (0-0) at Taboão Fight Championship, Daniela Cunha (0-0) takes on Tabatha Ricci (0-0) at FMC 1 and Débora Ferreira (0-0) faces Leticia Santos (0-1) at Duelo de Titans.

December 7 –  At Cage Warriors 62 in the UK, Kerry “Rocksteady” Hughes takes on Poland’s Agnieszka “Kuma” Niedzwiedz (4-0) and Laura “Hot Head” Howarth (0-0) makes her long awaited pro debut against Emma Delaney (0-0). This event streams live on MMAjunkie.com.

December 7 –  It’s “Night of Champions” at Invicta FC 7 in Kansas City MO. In the main event, Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith (6-3-1) battles Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak (8-2) for her Flyweight World title and Carla “The Cookie Monster” Esparza (9-2) defends her Strawweight World title against Claudia Gadelha (11-0) in the co-main event. Also up for grabs is the inaugural Bantamweight World title when the “Queen of Mean” Miriam Nakamoto (2-0) meets Lauren Murphy (7-0). This event is available on both televised and Internet PPV.
