Posted: September 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

Strikeforce: “Cincinnati” features the semi-final bouts of the Heavyweight Grand Prix and takes place on September 10th at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also on the card, Alexis Davis meets Amanda “Lioness of the Ring” Nunes in a 135-pound bout. HDNet will televise the preliminary card starting at 8pm EST and the main card will air on Showtime starting at 10pm.

Nunes (6-1) is currently ranked #3 at Featherweight and is riding a six-fight win streak, winning all six via form of knockout. In her Strikeforce debut, Nunes faced off against Muay Thai specialist, Julia Budd and recorded a devastating KO in 14-seconds. This will be her first fight back at Bantamweight in over two-years. Davis (10-4) is ranked 5th at Bantamweight and is on a two-fight win streak. In November 2010 she submitted Tonya Evinger via a first round rear naked choke to retain her Raging Wolf Bantamweight Championship and then in July she made her Strikeforce debut, defeating Julie Kedzie via unanimous decision. With Miesha Tate rumored to be defending her Strikeforce Championship next against Sarah Kaufman, one would think the victor of this fight whould be next in line for a title shot.
