CFX: “Winter Brawl” takes place on February 18th at the Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND and features a 135-pound matchup between Sweden’s Lina “Lynx” Eklund and Shana “Rock Solid” Nelson. The event will be streamed LIVE at MidwestFightShop.
World class fitness figure competitor, personal trainer, television star on Sweden’s Gladiators and now MMA fighter. Eklund (1-0) made her transition to MMA in April 2011 at the “SC 7: Rise of Champions” event with a second round rear-naked choke victory over Kristina Talvosaite. Eklund was impressive throughout the bout, out-muscling, out-striking and out-grappling her opponent. Recently, she has spent time training at The Arena in San Diego. Former top-10 ranked Featherweight, Nelson (4-2) makes her debut as a Bantamweight. Nelson burst onto the scene in 2009, winning her first four fights over Jessica Kinnetz, Kaitlin Young, Mariah Johnson and Yoko Takahashi. In October 2010, she would suffer the first loss of her career to Julia Budd via a second round TKO. In a competitive fight in April 2011 at Spring Brawl 2, she would suffer her second loss via decision to Elaina Maxwell. Now, Nelson drops a weight class as she looks to get back on the winning track.
